KL Rahul, the wicketkeeper-batter for India and the Delhi Capitals, was seen trolling team mentor Kevin Pietersen on Friday after the former England captain took a small detour and went on a family trip to the Maldives during IPL 2025, which has become a major topic of light-hearted discussion over the past week.
Pietersen missed Delhi's match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 10, although the team won. He was back in action by their following game, against the Mumbai Indians, on April 13.
Delhi has had a wonderful season thus far, winning five of their six games and sitting comfortably at the top of the points table.
Pietersen can be seen sharing pleasantries with Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill in a now-viral video released on DC's social media accounts.
“Good, what’s happening?" Gill asked back. “Bro, what’s a mentor? No one knows what a mentor is. Can you tell me what a mentor is?" Pietersen was seen joking about his position.
“Mentor is someone who goes to the Maldives for two weeks mid-season," Rahul replied, leaving Pietersen dumbfounded.

Kevin Pietersen, not the one to take things lying down, posted a comment on Instagram where DC had shared the video and revealed a fun definition of a mentor. He also tagged KL Rahul in his comment.
“Mentor - The wise and sagacious guide of a cricket team who, through a mysterious blend of tactical genius and holiday planning, ensures the team is as adept at swinging bats as they are at swinging in hammocks. Known for the rare ability to teach the art of the perfect switch-hit and the secret to finding the best vacation deals during mid-season breaks. Often spotted with a clipboard in one hand and a travel brochure in the other. cc @klrahul,” he posted.
