Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finally snapped their 5-match losing streak in the IPL 2025, as they defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Lucknow on Monday, April 14. MS Dhoni was given the Player of the Match for his 26* and an amazing run out.
The runout incident happened in the final over of the LSG innings. Matheesha Pathirana bowled a leg-side wide, and Rishabh Pant sent his teammate Samad through for a quick single.
Dhoni showed his intelligence as he targeted the non-striker's end. He flung the ball gently to the bowler's end, and it landed right on target. The right-hander was a little slow to respond, and as a result, he was discovered inches short of his crease. Samad walked back to the hut after scoring 20 runs off 11 balls.

After the match, LSG captain Rishabh Pant, CSK captain MS Dhoni and LSG mentor Zaheer Khan were seen conversing about that run out. Rishabh Pant was praising MS Dhoni for his presence of mind to throw the ball under-arm and have the accuracy for it to hit the stumps.
Dhoni stated that he just saw the stumps and hurled the ball towards them, expecting the ball to hit. However, Rishabh Pant quipped that his throw was very smooth and hit perfectly.

With this win, CSK moved up from the bottom place with 4 points from 7 games thanks to two wins. LSG, on the other hand, remains on 4th spot with 8 points from 6 games.
