Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) players pulled a prank on Virat Kohli in the dressing room after the team's IPL 2025 triumph against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on Monday. RCB scored a superb 9-wicket victory to boost their position in the points rankings.
Earlier, RR had batted first and posted 173/4 in 20 overs, with Yashasvi Jaiswal top-scoring with 75 runs. Riyan Parag (30) and Dhruv Jurel (35) also made vital contributions.
Phil Salt (65) and Kohli set the tone for RCB's 174-run chase with an opening stand of 92 off 52 balls, which did half the job for his club. After Salt was dismissed in the ninth over, Kohli took charge of the chase and never gave Rajasthan a chance.
The batting maestro took his time on the challenging surface, reaching 33 in 32 balls before taking command and scoring 62* in 45 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes.
Devdutt Padikkal, coming in as an Impact Player, looked fluent in his 40 not out off 28 balls. The duo scored 83 runs* off 54 balls, and Bengaluru won with 15 balls to spare.
Meanwhile, after the match, Virat Kohli was the victim of a prank by his RCB teammate Tim David. David was the initiator, stealing one of Kohli's bats from his kitbag in front of his teammates. He hid one of the RCB opener's bats in his kit bag, as the latter appeared bewildered in the dressing room, counting his willows.
“I want to see how long it will take Virat to realise we have taken one of his bats,” David said in the RCB video.
Kohli looked a bit clueless after checking his kitbag. He said to his teammates, "I counted my bats yesterday; it was seven. It's six now." The star player started searching for his bat and found it in another bag.
"I didn't take it, I just borrowed it," said David after being caught. As the entire room burst into laughter, Kohli asked, "Sabko pata tha na (Everyone knew about it. Right?)"
