The 27th match of the IPL 2025 saw Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) hosting Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Hyderabad on April 12. Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat first on a batting-friendly wicket.
Priyansh Arya (36) and Prabhsimran Singh (42) added 66 runs in 4 overs. The Shreyas Iyer hammered the daylights out of SRH bowling, scoring 82 in 36 balls with 6 fours and 6 sixes. Nehal Wadhera made 27. However, the finishing touches came thanks to Marcus Stoinis, who made 34* in 11 balls that included 4 consecutive sixes on the last four deliveries of the 20th over.
PBKS posted 245/6 in 20 overs. For SRH, Harshal Patel took 4/4,2 and IPL debutant Eshan Malinga took 2 wickets. Mohammad Shami went for 75 runs in his 4 overs, including the 4 sixes in the last over he delivered.
SRH needed a good start and their openers ensured they did. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma provided that. The duo began smashing the PBKS bowlers from ball one and added 93 runs in 7 overs. Head scored 66 in 37 balls before being dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal.
Abhishek Sharma continued the carnage and reached his maiden IPL century in 40 balls. He hit 11 fours and 6 sixes in his knock. Upon reaching the milestone, he celebrated with gusto and also took out a note and showed it to the crowd in the Hyderabad stadium.
“This one is for the Orange Army”- the note read, as Abhishek Sharma thanked the SRH fans for the support.
