The 23rd match of the IPL 2025 saw the Gujarat Titans (GT) taking on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Ahmedabad on April 9, 2025. Sanju Samson, the RR captain, won the toss and chose to bowl first.
GT captain Shubman Gill was dismissed by Jofra Archer for 2 runs, but then, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler (36) steadied the innings with an 80-run partnership. The GT innings needed an impetus and entry of Shahrukh Khan proved to be blessing for them.
He smoked 36 in 20 balls, while Sudharsan made 82 in 53 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Rahul Tewatia (24*) helped GT put 217/6 in 20 overs.
In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal (6) and Nitish Rana (1) got out for RR. Riyan Parag and captain Sanju Samson looked good and smacked some boundaries. They added 48 runs for the third wicket, when Parag dubiously lost his wicket. He scored 26 runs in 14 balls.
After him, only Shimron Hetmyer (52 in 32 balls) could resist somewhat as the GT bowlers were clinical in their performance. RR was bowled out for 159 runs in 19.2 overs, and GT won the match by 58 runs.
Prasidh Krishna took 3 wickets, while Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore took 2 each. With this win, GT moved to the top of the IPL 2025 points table with 8 points in 5 matches. On the other hand, RR is placed 7th with 4 points from 5 matches.
The cricket fraternity was all proud of GT’s clinical performance at home and also praised Sai Sudharsan for his knock.
