Under Axar Patel’s captaincy, Delhi Capitals (DC) have had a great start to their Indian Premier Legaue (IPL) 2025 campaign, winning two out of two matches so far.

The Capitals will next face five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk on Saturday (April 5). Ahead of the clash, Axar shared a humorous and heartfelt anecdote about his bond with former India and CSK skipper MS Dhoni.

In a video shared by DC on their social media channels, Axar recalled how Dhoni once played the role of an astrologer in his career. He made this revelation on seeing an old photo of him and Dhoni sitting together.

"In this photo, he’s telling me that my planets are moving here and there. You either get a good ball or something else happens," Axar said with a laugh.

"Vo yahi bol rahe the ki tu ek kaam kar, kuch vidhi vidhi karwale (He was suggesting I get some rituals done to correct it)."

Besides the banter, Axar highlighted Dhoni’s key role in in shaping his career. "I have a very close connection with Mahi bhai. During his captaincy at Team India, I shared my thoughts with him. Even during the 2021 World Cup, when he came in as mentor, I spoke to him about my mindset. Whatever I’ve achieved since then, credit goes to Mahi bhai too for the changes that can be seen," he remarked.

Delhi Capitals are currently occupying the second spot in the team standings with four points. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings have had a slower start with just one win in three games, holding eighth spot in the 10-team points table.
