Punjab Kings (PBKS) pacer Arshdeep Singh admitted that he could’ve bowled much better and gave lesser runs, despite taking three wickets in his team’s recent win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2025. This match was played in Lucknow on April 1 and saw PBKS winning by 8 wickets.
Arshdeep Singh rattled the LSG batting lineup as they managed only 171/7 after batting first. Nicholas Pooran (44) and Ayush Badoni (41) being the main scorers. Arshdeep Singh picked three wickets for PBKS.
Prabhsimran Singh hammered 69 in response, and Shreyas Iyer made 52* as PBKS won the game by 8 wickets in 16.2 overs.
After Punjab Kings won the match, Arshdeep Singh, who took three wickets in the match, talked about how batsmen not trusting their defence helps his case.
“As you know nowadays, batsmen do not trust their defence much. They just want to go after the ball. So, I had two slips and a deep cover. So just in case the batsman swings and the ball goes up in the air, there is a fielder for me and I am attacking as well with two slips. The wicket at the end got better, and I believe you have to stay till the end,” Singh told IPL interviewers.
The Punjab bowler has taken wickets in the previous two IPL seasons. While Singh had a good season in the IPL in 2021, taking 18 wickets, he finished with 17 wickets in the 2023 IPL and 19 wickets in the previous year's IPL.
He also discussed his experience bowling on Lucknow's red dirt pitch. When asked about his three wickets, Singh described it as an 'ordinary' performance.
“I mean, that’s pretty average on a wicket that was giving help to seam bowlers. I feel I could have bowled better and given less runs. So, in the powerplay, the ball was stopping, and extra bounce was there. So, there was extra help. We could have hit the lengths for a bit more time and would have been a different score,” Singh added.

Since making his IPL debut, Arshdeep Singh has taken a total of 81 wickets in the IPL. He also has 99 wickets for India in 63 T20Is and is the highest wicket-taker for Men in Blue in T20Is.
