Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured an impressive eight-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giant (LSG) in the recent IPL 2025 match in Lucknow. This match was punctuated by Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh’s brilliant batting and Arshdeep Singh’s 3 wickets.
The Punjab Kings won the toss and decided to field first. Nicholas Pooran starred with 44 runs but the middle order faltered for LSG. But then Ayush Badoni scored 41 runs in 33 balls, including one four and three sixes, while Samad scored 27 in 12 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Captain Rishabh Pant’s poor form continued as he scored just 2 runs.
LSG scored 171/7 from 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh scored 3/43 for the Punjab Kings.
In reply, Prabhsimran Singh made 69 in 34 balls, with 9 fours and 3 sixes and Shreyas Iyer made 52* with 3 fours and 4 sixes, while Nehal Wadhera hammered 43* in 25 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. PBKS won the game by 8 wickets in a dominating show.
The win was followed by a funny social media post from the Punjab Kings, which appeared to respond to LSG captain Rishabh Pant's pre-season comments regarding the auction.
Before the IPL 2025 season began, Pant had expressed his thoughts about the auction in an interview with Star Sports: "I only had one tension, that was Punjab (laughs). They had the highest purse. When Shreyas went to Punjab, I felt I could make it to LSG. There was a possibility. But eventually, with auction you never know, so I just thought I would wait and watch, and had my fingers crossed.”
Punjab Kings took a dig at Rishabh Pant for his tension remark and their post on social media included Iyer in various stances following the win, with the message "Tension toh auction me hi khatm ho gayi thi."
