Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 13th IPL 2025 match on April 1, 2025, at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The Punjab Kings won the toss and decided to field first.
Arshdeep Singh dismissed Mitchell Marsh for a golden duck, while Lockie Ferguson cleaned up Aiden Markram for 28 runs. Nicholas Pooran scored 44 with five fours and two sixes, while Rishabh Pant scored only two runs as his bad streak continued.
However, Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad made key cameo appearances to give LSG a total they could defend. Badoni scored 41 runs in 33 balls, including one four and three sixes, while Samad scored 27 in 12 balls, including two fours and two sixes.
LSG scored 171/7 from 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh scored 3/43 for the Punjab Kings.
Punjab Kings needed a good start, and LSG looked for early wickets. After the first two from the pacers went for 20 runs, Rishabh Pant made a bold move and brought on spinner Digvesh Rathi to disrupt the flow of runs. Rathi faced off against his Delhi teammate, Priyansh Arya, who opened the innings for PBKS.
Arya welcomed him by hitting him for a four and then two singles were taken, with the slip fielder dropping one catch. After playing off a dot ball off Rathi, Arya decided to hoick one to the leg side and ended up hitting the ball straight in the air, where Shardul Thakur made an easy running catch.
As Arya was walking back to the dugout, Rathi ran towards him and gave him a mouthful as sendoff, while signaling that he had written his name in the list in his notebook. This seemed like a playful incident between the two Delhi teammates that played for different franchises.
