Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) registered a thumping 50-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 8 of the IPL 2025 season at Chepauk on Friday (March 28).
It was RCB’s first win at CSK’s home ground after 17 years, with their previous win dating back to the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008.
After the game, RCB stalwart Virat Kohli was seen in an animated conversation with CSK’s pacer Khaleel Ahmed.
During the first innings, Khaleel bowled a bouncer to Kohli and walked towards him in the follow-through, to which the latter gave him a death stare.
When players of both teams met during the customary post-match handshake, Kohli and Khaleel had a confrontation. The former RCB skipper vented out his frustration and the left-arm quick replied by saying, “Bhaiyya bowling toh karrne do dhang se (let me bowl properly).”
CSK legend MS Dhoni witnessed everything closely as he was right behind Kohli when the controversial incident took place.
The two players had another round of heated chat, where RCB star looked quite animated as Khaleel tried to explain his side of the story.
Coming to the match, RCB posted a massive score of 196/7 on the board after being asked to bat first. Skipper Rajat Patidar led his team from the front as he slammed a magnificent half-century (51 of 32) while Tim David (22* off 8) provided a strong finish with three consecutive sixes in the final over.
In reply, CSK finished their innings on 146/8 in 20 overs. Josh Hazlewood (3/21 in 4 overs), Yash Dayal (2/18 in 3 overs), and Liam Livingstone (2/28 in 4 overs) ran through Chennai’s batting line-up.
