Ahead of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Chennai Super Kings blockbuster IPL 2025 clash on Friday, March 28, former CSK players S Badrinath and Ambati Rayudu discussed the match on YouTube and made some funny remarks on RCB’s inability to win the IPL thus far.

Even former cricketers, notably those from the Super Kings, have not shied away from criticizing RCB for their trophyless record in the tournament in recent years, and this is no exception.

In the said video, Former CSK players Subramaniam Badrinath and Ambati Rayudu laughed at the RCB stadium while Badrinath interviewed the former CSK great.

Badrinath questioned Rayudu, "Will the RCB jinx be broken this year?" and both former cricketers laughed.

Continuing the banter, Rayudu answered by claiming he doesn't want RCB to win this year and taking another shot at the franchise, implying that the IPL requires a team like RCB.

“Purely as a fan, and as someone who had really good laughter at them over the years because of what they do to themselves, I would want them to win sometime, but not this year, maybe. We want CSK to do well and win it this year. In the end, we need someone like RCB in the IPL (laughs),” Rayudu said.

RCB’s last appearance in IPL final came in 2016 edition when they were defeated by SRH. CSK, on the other hand, are five-time IPL champions with their last title win coming in IPL 2023. Last IPL edition in 2024, RCB defeated CSK in a must-win game and knocked them out of the race for the playoffs.

This year, both CSK and RCB have started on a winning note. RCB, under new captain Rajat Patidar, defeated KKR in the opening bout of the IPL 2025 and CSK defeated arch-rivals MI at home in Chennai.
