IPL 2025: Cricket fraternity lauds PBKS for their 11-run win over GT; Shreyas Iyer shines with 97*

The 5th match of the IPL 2025 was played between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 25, 2025. Gujarat Titans won the toss and elected to field first.

Priyansh Arya, on his IPL debut, hammered 47 in 23 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes for PBKS. But the other end was anchored by Shreyas Iyer, while other batters scored around him. Marcus Stoinis made 20, and Shashank Singh demolished the GT bowling in death overs.

Shashank made 44* in 16 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes, adding 81* runs with Shreyas Iyer. Iyer played a captain’s knock and made 97* in 42 balls with 5 fours and 9 sixes to boast. PBKS posted 243/5 in 20 overs. Sai Kishore was the best bowler for GT with 3/30 in his 4 overs amidst the mayhem.

In response, Sai Sudharsan scored 74 in 41 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes, but none of the other batters got going. Jos Buttler came in at no. 3 and made 54 in 33 balls, while Sherfane Rutherford made 46 with 3 sixes and 4 fours.

GT mustered 232/5 but lost the game by 11 runs in the end.

The cricket fraternity praised the PBKS for a clinical win and also lauded Shreyas Iyer for his brilliant knock in his PBKS captaincy debut.
