Ashutosh Sharma, a Delhi Capitals (DC) allrounder, pulled off a heist against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday, snatching a win from the jaws of defeat as his team began their IPL 2025 campaign on a strong note, answering the opponent's power-hitting with the same during an epic chase.
Coming in at 65/5 in the seventh over, Ashutosh stayed on until the end to help Delhi surpass the 210-run mark. Ashutosh, who plays for Railways in domestic cricket, scored an unbeaten 66 off 41 deliveries on Monday, which helped Delhi come back from behind.
Ashutosh praised Indian Premier League debutant Vipraj Nigam (39) for changing the course of the match after Delhi fell at 113/6 chasing 210. Ashutosh changed gears after collecting 20 runs off the first 20 deliveries he faced.
After he won the game for DC with a six, Ashutosh Sharma celebrated by playing a faux reverse scoop, a tribute to DC mentor Kevin Pietersen.

DC franchise shared a video of a heartfelt interaction between mentor Kevin Pietersen and Ashutosh. Pietersen is telling Ashutosh how finishing games off makes for a great cricketer.
“The stepping stones from there are to finish games off. You know what I mean? Getting your team into a great position is one thing, but the great players finish games off," Pietersen is heard saying in the video.
