Ashutosh Sharma starred with the bat as Delhi Capitals (DC) opened their IPL 2025 campaign with a thrilling one-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Visakhapatnam on Monday (March 24).
Chasing 210 to win, the Capitals were reeling at 7/3 in the second over and limped to 116/6 after 13 overs, but Ashutosh’s whirlwind knock, 66* off 31 deliveries with five sixes and as many boundaries, took his team over the line with three deliveries to spare.
After pulling off the heist, the swashbuckling right-hander was seen having a chat with his mentor Shikhar Dhawan over a video call in the dressing room.
In a clip shared by DC on social media platform X, Ashutosh can be seen thanking Dhawan for his congratulatory messages.

Following the win, Ashutosh Sharma dedicated his Player-of-the-Match award to Shikhar Dhawan, who, according to him, is his mentor.
While speaking in the post-match presentation ceremony, Ashutosh also said that he missed out on finishing a couple of games last season when he was part of Punjab Kings but was prepared to get the job done this year.
“Took the lessons from last year. Missed out on finishing the game on a couple of occasions in the previous season. The whole year I focused and visualised it. Had the belief that if I play till the last over, anything can happen. Well played to Vipraj. I asked him to keep hitting. He was very calm under pressure. I want to dedicate this award to my mentor, Shikhar Paaji," Ashutosh said.
