Ishan Kishan put on a show with the bat in the second match of the IPL 2025 season between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday (March 23).

Making his debut for SRH, Kishan slammed a breathtaking century while batting at No. 3. The southpaw returned with 106 not out off 47 balls with 11 fours and 7 sixes, propelling Sunrisers to a mammoth 286/6 in 20 overs.

During the mid-innings break, Ishan Kishan attributed his success to Pat Cummins, stating that the SRH captain has given the entire team a lot of freedom and confidence heading into the tournament.

“Feels good, it [the century] was coming for a while. I wanted to get this [hundred] last season, but I'm happy to get that first hundred. The team [SRH] has put their faith in me, and I want to do my best for them. The captain [Cummins] has given us all a lot of freedom and confidence; hats off to the management,” Kishan said.

Invited to bat first, SRH got off to a blistering start as the dynamic duo of Abhishek Sharma (24 off 11) and Travis Head (67 off 31) added 45 runs for the opening wicket in just 3.1 overs. Kishan had the perfect platform and he continued the onslaught with a top-notch century.

“When Abhishek and Head started, they gave a lot of confidence to us batters in the dugout. The pitch was looking good and we were just trying to get them under pressure. We need to be on point with the ball, keep it simple. Rajasthan batters are good but if we bowl in the right areas and to the plans, we should be good,” he added.

It was a tough outing for the Royals bowlers. While Tushar Deshpande claimed three wickets, he conceded 44 runs in his four overs.
