Virat Kohli seemed in a a good mood as RCB started their chase against KKR on a smashing note in the first match of the IPL 2025 in Kolkata. Kohli and Phil Salt gave the visiting team a flying start in the match, which was played on March 22, 2025.
Earlier, RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to bowl first. Sunil Narine (44) and Ajinkya Rahane (56) helped KKR to 107 runs In the first 10 overs. Despite 30 by Angkrish Raghuvanshi, KKR only managed 174/8 in 20 overs as they lost a heap of wickets in the middle overs.
For RCB, Krunal Pandya took three wickets and Josh Hazlewood took 2 scalps.
RCB began the chase on a quick note as both Phil Salt and Virat Kohli started with boundaries. While Salt hammered the bowlers with pure strength, Virat Kohli made his fans go awe as he smacked Spencer Johnson for two sixes on the first two balls of 5th over.
Johnson bowled deliveries across Kohli, but faltered with the length, pitching the deliveries fuller than he wanted. Kohli being the master, smacked both the balls for sixes over the long off fielder with ease.
