Star India and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spinner Varun Chakaravarthy has warned the batters ahead of the IPL 2025 season, that he is working on something new as he preps for the most popular T20 tournament in the world.
Chakravarthy has had an incredible journey, from overcoming fitness issues to playing an important role in India's recent Champions Trophy victory, where he took nine wickets. During the Champions Trophy, Chakravarthy teamed up with Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel to spin a web around the opposition.
Varun Chakravarthy has stated that he is attempting to maintain consistency in his bowling while also experimenting with new variations.
“The main thing is working on consistency, which is the toughest thing to master and I am putting in constant work to achieve that. And of course, I am working on a few other deliveries which I’m hoping will come off nicely in the upcoming games.” Chakaravarthy was quoted as saying in a press release.
Chakravarthy's showdown against Bengaluru's ace batter Virat Kohli is one of the most anticipated IPL 2025 matchups.
“Nothing in specific, just the situation of those matches which helped me pick wickets. In all those games the conditions and the situations were completely favorable towards us so I was able to extract the best possible result," Chakravarthy said.
Kolkata will have a new skipper in Ajinkya Rahane and a mentor in T20 legend Dwayne Bravo.
“The squad looks good. I think it’s about cracking the code and having the best-playing XI performing consistently. If we can get a set core in the first three matches, then we have great chances ahead in this season," Chakravarthy said.
Reigning champions Kolkata will kick off their IPL campaign against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens on Saturday, March 22.
