With the Indian Premier league (IPL) 2025 season around the corner, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend MS Dhoni has returned to the training grounds. He is part of CSK’s 10-day pre-season camp at their High-Performance Centre in Chennai.
Dhoni looked in good spirits as he engaged in light training and struck a few big shots in the nets on Friday (February 28)
In a video shared by the franchise on social media, Dhoni was seen tightening his defence with a couple of blocks before showcasing his big hits.
The 43-year-old took on the spinners during the batting practice session, sending the ball into the stands. Besides Dhoni, CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and former Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin were also spotted in the camp.
CSK splashed INR 4 crore retain the services of Dhoni ahead of the mega-auction last November. He will feature in the IPL 2025 season as an uncapped player.
Speaking at an event earlier this month, Dhoni said cricket is still a part of his life and he wants to enjoy it as he used to as a child.
“I want to enjoy it, how I did as a child when I was in school. When I lived in a colony, 4 o'clock (in the afternoon) was sports time, so we'll go and play cricket more often than not. But if the weather doesn't permit, we used to play football. I want to play with the same kind of innocence… (but it is) easier said than done,” Dhoni remarked.
