MS Dhoni has always revealed his future ambitions in a style that is all his own. Few anticipated that on India's Independence Day in 2020, he would post an Instagram announcement of his worldwide retirement.
Dhoni has frequently been the subject of rumors regarding his future in the Indian Premier League throughout the years. Ahead of the IPL 2025 season, he appears to have sent his supporters a "clear" message.
On February 26, MS Dhoni was clicked at the Chennai airport as he arrived in the city to join the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pre-season camp for the IPL 2025. However, after supporters saw that Dhoni's t-shirt featured a coded message, images and a video of his arrival in Chennai went viral on social media.
"One last time" was written in Morse code, a communication method that involves a succession of dots and dashes. Fans were moved by the sight on social media.
During the introduction of his app earlier last week, Dhoni stated that he wanted to enjoy cricket like a kid for as long as he has left as an active player.
“I've retired since 2019, so it will be quite some time. What I've been doing in the meantime is I just want to enjoy cricket for the last, whatever few years, you know, I will be able to play. I want to enjoy it, how I did as a child when I was in school. When I lived in a colony, 4 o'clock (in the afternoon) was sports time, so we'll go and play cricket more often than not.
But if the weather doesn't permit, we used to play football. I want to play with the same kind of innocence… (but it is) easier said than done,” MS Dhoni said.
MS Dhoni was retained by the CSK for INR 4 crores as an uncapped player, as the BCCI brought back the rule that stated that all players, who haven’t played international cricket for five years, will be treated as uncapped players.
