India pacer Mohammad Shami gave an apt reply to former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, who predicted that the pacer might drop his price in the upcoming IPL 2025 auction.

Manjrekar claimed that Shami's injury history will make franchises wary, especially as the spinner returns to full fitness.

Manjrekar's comments were prompted by concerns over Shami's recent injuries, notably a serious knee problem that kept him out for nearly a year. While Shami has lately returned to domestic cricket, his fitness remains a concern.

There will definitely be interest from teams, but given Shami's injury history—and this recent one took a significant amount of time to recover—there’s always a concern about a potential breakdown during the season. If a franchise invests heavily and then loses him mid-season, their options become limited. This concern might lead to a drop in his price tag," Manjrekar said on Star Sports.

Regarding the same, Mohammad Shami took to his Instagram and stated that Manjrekar should keep some of his predictions for the future and others as well.

Baba ji ki jay ho. Thodasa gyan apne future k liye bhi bacha lo kaam ayega Sanjay G? Kisi ko future janna ho toh sir se mile ("Glory to Baba Ji. Save a little wisdom for your own future too, it might come in handy, Sanjay G. If anyone wants to know their future, they should meet the sir),” Shami posted on his Instagram.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Shami returned to cricketing action for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 and picked 7 wickets in the outing. He has also been named in the Bengal squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.

Reports have stated that the Indian team management is keeping a close eye on Shami and if he displays that he has no fitness issues during the SMAT 2024, then he might be called up for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 that gets underway on November 22.
