Delhi Capitals (DC), which GMR Group and JSW Group jointly own, has announced some major operational changes ahead of the IPL 2025 season on Thursday, October 17.

The two groups co-owning the Delhi Capitals men’s and women’s teams in the IPL and WPL, respectively, have announced a strategic decision to alternate the management of cricket operations of the teams on a two-year rotational basis.

For the next two years, GMR Group will manage the cricket operations of the Delhi Capitals Men's squad, while JSW Sports will manage the Women's team. In 2027, the positions will be reversed, with JSW Sports in control of the men's team.

Despite the rotation, the Delhi Capitals management team will continue to oversee the franchise's business operations. The Delhi Capitals' board will make key decisions, such as auctions, captaincy, player retention, and releases, with senior leadership's input at the GMR and JSW groups.

GMR Group, one of the IPL's founding owners in 2008, originally named the team the "Delhi Daredevils." In 2018, GMR and JSW Sports formed a 50:50 ownership partnership, resulting in the team being rebranded as the Delhi Capitals.

Since 2008, the franchise has consistently competed in the IPL, reaching the semi-finals in its first two seasons and making multiple playoff appearances. In 2019, the Delhi Capitals achieved their best-ever finish as second runners-up, and they will make their first IPL final participation in 2020.

The Delhi Capitals Women’s team, acquired in 2023, has already made a strong impact, reaching the final in both seasons of the Women’s Premier League so far.

GMR will continue to manage the Dubai Capitals in the ILT20 League, while JSW Sports will oversee the Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 South African League.
