Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will retain Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins and Abhishek Sharma ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega-auction, ESPNCricinfo reported.

According to the report, South Africa’s Klaasen will be SRH’s top retention and will get INR 23 Crore (USD 2.74 million approximately).

Australian’s Cummins, who led the franchise in this year’s IPL, will be retained at INR 18 Crore (USD 2.14 million approximately) while Indian youngster Abhishek will receive INR 14 Crore (USD 1.67 million approximately).

The report also suggests that the 2016 IPL champions are looking to retain the services of Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

October 31 is the deadline for retentions ahead of the IPL 2025 grand auction, which is likely to be held later next month.

The Sunrisers grabbed headlines during the IPL 2024 season with their explosive brand of cricket and made it to the final of the cash-rich league for the first time in seven years.

The likes of Klassen, Cummins, Abhishek, Head and Reddy played instrumental roles in SRH’s dominant display right through the tournament.

Talking about the IPL retention rules, each of the 10 teams can retain up to six cricketers, through the retention and Right To Match (RTM) option.

The auction purse for the franchises has been set at INR 120 Crore. The first three retentions will see the auction purse being reduced by Rs 18 Crore, Rs 14 Crore and Rs 11 Crore, respectively. However, the two other additional retentions will cost more than the third. The fourth and the fifth retentions will see a reduction of Rs 18 Crore and Rs 14 Crore, respectively.

It means a team will see its auction purse reduced by a whopping Rs 75 Crore on five players, with only Rs 45 Crore left in its kitty for the IPL auction.
