Dwayne Bravo, former West Indies all-rounder and captain, recently announced his retirement from all cricket on September 26. Almost immediately, it was unveiled that Bravo has signed on with IPL 2024 winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as their mentor ahead of the IPL 2025 season.
The champion of the 2012 and 2016 T20 World Cups took over as KKR's mentor when Gautam Gambhir quit to become head coach of the Indian men's cricket team in July.
Bravo played his last few years in IPL for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and after retiring from the tournament in 2022, joined CSK as their bowling coach.
So, Bravo leaving the CSK family to join rivals KKR was a huge shock to the Yellow Army. And Bravo took to Instagram to address his CSK fans. In a video on the social media platform, Bravo thanked the CSK management for giving their blessings to move on and take on a new role and asked fans to give their blessings and support.
“This is the champion. It’s no secret now; the news is out that I have accepted a deal to be the mentor for the Knight Riders franchise. I just want to take this time to give a special mention and a special thank you to the CSK management team for giving me their blessings to move on to do something that I’m really passionate about.
My fans in Chennai and to all the CSK fans around the world, I call on you to give me your blessings and support as you always do. I know this is a sad moment for you guys, but it’s one that I encourage you to continue to support me in everything that I do. Lots of love, yellove, all the time. See you guys soon. See you on the other side,” Bravo stated on Instagram.
Dwayne Bravo has been associated with the Knight Riders family, having played for Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL for the past couple of seasons.
