Jay Shah introduces historic match fees in IPL, players to get additional Rs 1.05 crore for playing all games

All 10 franchises will allocate INR 12.60 crores as match fees for the season.

Jay Shah introduced a new match fee structure in IPL | GettyBCCI secretory Jay Shah has decided to incentivize the Indian Premier League (IPL) by announcing a significant hike in match fees.

The basic idea of this scheme is that players should be paid more for playing all league matches of the IPL. With this, the non-contracted and uncapped players can also earn a decent amount by remaining consistent in the lucrative tournament.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Shah announced that each player will get a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per game starting from IPL 2025.

“In a historic move to celebrate consistency and champion outstanding performances in the #IPL, we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per game for our cricketers!” his post read.

The revamped fee structure means a player featuring in all 14 league games will get to pocket an additional Rs. 1.05 crores over his contracted amount.

In order to make this move successful, all 10 franchises will allocate INR 12.60 crores as match fees for the season.

Shah’s post further stated, “Each franchise will allocate INR 12.60 crores as match fees for the season! This is a new era for the #IPL and our players!”

Meanwhile, all teams are set to undergo a major overhaul as the mega-auction will be conducted ahead of the IPL 2025 season.

While the grand auction is expected to take place in November 2024, there is no clarity yet on the number of retentions each franchise will be allowed.

According to reports, the IPL Governing Council will meet on Saturday (September 28) in Bengaluru and the new retention rules are expected to be announced in the next 24 hours.
