India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is set to continue his Indian Premier League (IPL) journey with the Delhi Capitals (DC), Cricbuzz reported.

This development comes amidst speculations about his future with the franchise and alleged disagreements over his retention fee.

According to the report, a decision was made following a meeting between Pant and DC co-owner Parth Jindal.

While the BCCI is yet to release the retention rules, sources within the franchise's ownership group have confirmed that Pant will be their top choice for retention.

Pant's current IPL salary is INR 16 crore, but this figure is anticipated to rise based on the total player purse allowed to a franchise and the retention fee guidelines set by the BCCI.

Rishabh Pant returned to lead the Capitals in IPL 2024 after missing the 2023 season due to injuries sustained in the horrific car accident.

The southpaw scored 446 runs in 13 games at an impressive strike rate of 155 in this year’s IPL. However, his team failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The DC management has also reportedly made decisions on retaining other players. Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav are likely to remain associated with the franchise, with Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tristan Stubbs as the overseas retentions.

Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction, a special provision to retain uncapped players is being explored by the BCCI. In that case, the DC management is expected to retain young wicketkeeper-batter Abhishek Porel.

It was earlier reported that the retention guidelines could be released by the end of this month, giving teams around two months to make strategies. The deadline for the teams to unveil their retentions is expected to be around November 15 while the two-day auction is likely to take place outside India at the end of November.
