Rahul Dravid was confirmed as the new head coach of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 tournament. Dravid, who ended his India head coach tenure with the T20 World Cup 2024 win, was previously associated with RR as their captain from 2011-2013 and then as a mentor from 2014-15.
As India's coach, Rahul led the national team to the finals of all three major ICC tournaments - the World Test Championship (WTC), the ODI World Cup, and the T20 World Cup.
Meanwhile, RR shared a video of Rahul Dravid’s first day of work with the RR franchise in which he can be seen entering a room for a meeting with the franchise's officials wearing a pink shirt.
"Hello! So this is where the IPL is won," he could be heard saying as he greeted everyone in the room with his opening words.
"I am pleased to be returning to the franchise I have called 'home' for several years in the past. After the (T20) World Cup, I feel it's the ideal time for me to take on another challenge, and the Royals is the perfect place to do that," Dravid said in the team's media release to announce his appointment.
Rahul Dravid will work alongside Royals Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara to develop the franchise's cricketing strategy.
