KKR became three-time IPL champions on Sunday, May 26 | IPL-BCCIChris Gayle, a former West Indies player, congratulated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on their IPL 2024 win. KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final in Chennai on Sunday, May 26 by 8 wickets in a dominating fashion to win the tournament for the third time.

SRH chose to bat first and could only post 113 runs with Pat Cummins top-scoring with 24 runs. Andre Russell took 3 wickets, while Mitchell Starc had ruined SRH top order early on. In reply, Venkatesh Iyer’s 52* and Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s 39 were enough for KKR to win by 8 wickets.

Following the triumph, Gayle, a former KKR batter himself, congratulated the franchise and mention his former teammates Sunil Narine and Andre Russell as he danced to the famous song Danza Kuduro.

Interestingly, Gayle spent three seasons with the Knight Riders from 2008 to 2010 before joining the RCB team.

Gayle shared a video in which he is seen having a great time with his mates. In the background, a DJ could be seen playing music. He also mentioned Sherfane Rutherford, Andre Russell, and Sunil Narine in his message.
