Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the IPL 2024 by defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final on Sunday in Chennai. It was a dominating win that ended their 10-year wait for the IPL title.

This IPL 2024 win made KKR a three-time champions and they are just behind MI and CSK, who have both won the tournament five times. Other teams like SRH, RR, Deccan Chargers, and Gujarat Titans have won the title only once.

The celebrations went long as KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan was seen on the field with the players and he was seen kissing Gautam Gambhir on the forehead before giving him a tight hug. Notably, KKR’s two previous IPL wins came under Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy in 2012 and 2014.

And now KKR won the title for the third time with Gambhir as his mentor.

Shah Rukh Khan also greeted and hugged all the KKR players and support staff. One of the players was Rinku Singh and the two hugged each other tightly and said loudly, "God's Plan." Rinku was all fired up, as it was his first IPL title win after spending seven seasons with KKR.

"Outstanding feeling right now. Dream has come true - I have been here for 7 years and we are so happy. Credit to GG sir. I will finally lift the IPL trophy. It was God's plan," Rinku told the broadcasters after the match.

The next person SRK hugged was pacer Harshit Rana. Rana had a topsy turvy outing in IPL 2024 as he was fined twice and then suspended for one match due to his flying kiss celebration.

Shah Rukh Khan hugged Harshit and then revealed that he would tell every member of the Kolkata unit to emulate that flying-kiss gesture during the trophy photoshoot, leaving the youngster to burst into laughter.

While he may not seem to have believed SRK, the Bollywood superstar stayed true to his words as he asked every KKR player and staff member to do it at the count of three during their group photoshoot with the IPL trophy and they did it.
