IPL 2024: Cricket fraternity rejoices as SRH books ticket for final by defeating RR by 36 runs in Qualifier 2

SRH will clash with KKR in the IPL 2024 final on May 26, Sunday in Chennai.

Heinrich Klaasen | BCCI-IPLSunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) clashed in the Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2024 on May 24, Friday. RR came into the match after defeating RCB in the Eliminator, while SRH had lost to KKR in Qualifier 1.

RR captain Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bowl first. SRH rode on the half-century by Heinrich Klaasen, 37 from Rahul Tripathi and 34 from Travis Head. Shahbaz Ahmed contributed a valuable 18 as SRH posted 175/9 in 20 overs on a difficult pitch.

For RR, Avesh Khan and Trent Boult picked three wickets each, while Sandeep Sharma took 2.

Shahbaz Ahmed | BCCI-IPLRR’s reply was looking good until Yashasvi Jaiswal was on the crease. He made 42 in 21 balls with 3 sixes and 4 fours. But after that, SRH spinners Shahbaz Ahmed and Abhishek Sharma ruled the roost on the Chennai pitch. Ahmed took 3/23, while Abhishek picked 2/24.

Apart from Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel made 56* with 7 fours and 2 sixes, but none of the batters barring Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Sanju Samson made more than 10 runs. In the end, RR finished on 139/7 and lost the Qualifier 2 by 36 runs.

SRH won this important match and will now face Shreyas Iyer’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2024 final on May 26, Sunday, also in Chennai.

The cricket fraternity was elated at the brilliance of SRH batters and bowlers and the excellent captaincy of Pat Cummins. They praised the entire SRH unit on social media platform X as they wished them luck for the final.
