AB de Villiers, former RCB batter, was left dejected and heartbroken as he saw the Virat Kohli-starred side losing to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Eliminator of the IPL 2024 on Wednesday, May 22.
RCB entered the match on a six-game winning streak, while RR had gone winless in their previous five games. However, RR regained the form that had seen them win all but one of their first nine games of the season.
RCB's inability to win the title despite coming close several times and having many great players in their teams over the years has become a running theme in the IPL, with the main question at the outset of each season being whether they can end the drought this time around.

RCB made an amazing comeback after winning just one of their first eight matches. They won all of their remaining 6 matches to qualify for the playoffs. But they were outclassed by RR with the ball and with the bat in Ahmedabad.
An example of the roller coaster of emotions that RCB fans may have gone through could be seen through AB de Villiers in the Jio Cinema studio. JioCinema shared a montage of De Villiers' expressions over the course of the Eliminator on Monday. However, RCB lost, leaving De Villiers heartbroken.

“It’s always painful to lose. But as a fan, I’m proud of the boys for making us believe, even when all hope seemed lost at the start of May. I’m sure #RCB will come back stronger next year and bring home that elusive title,” said De Villiers in a post on X.
