IPL 2024: WATCH - Andre Russell’s brilliance on the field results in run-out of well-set Rahul Tripathi

Tripathi was run-out after a miscommunication with his batting partner Abdul Samad.

Rahul Tripathi was left distraught after getting run-out in Qualifier 1 | XKolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are facing each other in Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Tuesday (May 21).

In the all-important fixture, KKR rode on Mitchell Starc’s sensational spell to reduce SRH to 39/4 inside the powerplay. Amid the pressure situation, Rahul Tripathi and Heinrich Klaasen added 62 runs for the fifth wicket to steady the ship.

Varun Chakaravarthy broke the partnership by removing Klaasen for 32 off 21 balls in the 11th over. Two overs later, Andre Russell’s brilliance on the field resulted in the dismissal of well-set Tripathi (55 off 35 balls).

Rahul Tripathi was run-out after a miscommunication with his batting partner Abdul Samad, who played a shot to the left of Russell at backward point.

Russell dived to make a great stop and instantly threw the ball to wicketkeeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who completed the formalities as Tripathi was ball-watching in the middle.

After Rahul Tripathi’s dismissal, the Sunrisers suffered another collapse and slipped from 121/6 to 126/9. However, skipper Pat Cummins produced a cameo of 30 in 24 balls and added a valuable 33-run stand for the final wicket with Vijayakanth Viyaskanth to take SRH to a respectable 159/10 in 19.3 overs.
