Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) clashed with Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on May 14 in the ongoing IPL 2024. LSG needs to win both of their remaining games to qualify for the playoffs.

KL Rahul won the toss and chose that LSG will bowl first. Arshad Khan gave the best start to LSG, as he had the dangerous Jake Fraser-McGurk for a duck. But Abishek Porel (58) and Shai Hope (38) added 92 runs to lay a good foundation for the DC team.

Then Rishabh Pant (33) and Tristan Stubbs (57* in 25 balls), along with Akshar Patel (14*) took DC to a total of 208/4. Naveen Ul Haq picked two wickets in his 4 overs for 51 runs for LSG.

However, LSG had an even poorer start to their chase and Ishant Sharma had both openers Quinton de Kock (12) and KL Rahul (8) caught by Mukesh Kumar and jolted the opposition batting.

Ishant Sharma fooled KL Rahul into playing a false shot with a slower full delivery. Rahul was way early into his drive and the ball took the outer edge of the bat and Mukesh Kumar took a good catch over his shoulder on the offside.

Sanjiv Goenka, who had earlier clapped when KL Rahul had taken an amazing diving catch for LSG to get rid of Shai Hope, was seen with a smile on his face after KL Rahul’s dismissal.

This is after Sanjiv Goenka had hosted KL Rahul at his residence for a meal and hugged him as well to bury the hatchet. Earlier Goenka had faced a backlash from cricket fans and fraternity for his angry tirade at KL Rahul after LSG had been humiliated by Sunrisers Hyderabad, who chased down 165 runs in 9.4 overs with all 10 wickets intact.

The fans on social media were quick to notice the cunning smile on Sanjiv Goenka’s face after KL Rahul was dismissed by Ishant Sharma. The fans took to social media to point out the same and slammed the LSG owner.
