During the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) match against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024 on May 11 in Kolkata, a bizarre incident happened as a fan in the stands pocketed the match ball. He later faced the wrath of Kolkata police for his antics.

The incident happened when a six was hit during the match and the ball landed in the fans in the stands. A Kolkata Knight Riders fan decided to keep the ball for himself. The police personnel then asked the fan to hand the ball back, but the fan had a rude altercation with the officials as he tried to conceal the match ball.

As the police tried to retrieve the ball from him, he resisted, but the official snatched it from his hands. The video also showed the police official manhandling the fan as he was pushed towards the exit.

KKR had gone on to defeat MI by 18 runs in a rain-curtailed match on May 11 and qualified for the playoffs. Their next match against Gujarat Titans was washed out due to rain on May 13, which ensured them a top two finish as they have 19 points from 13 games.
