IPL 2024: WATCH – Dhoni receives special medal, gifts tennis balls to fans, hugs Raina after CSK’s last league match at Chepauk

MS Dhoni and his CSK teammates took a lap of honour at Chepauk.

MS Dhoni | JioCinemaMS Dhoni and his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammates took a lap of honour at the MA Chidambaram Stadium following their five-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in an IPL 2024 match on Sunday (May 12).

It was CSK’s final league game in this year's IPL at Chepauk. The defending champions can still play at the iconic venue if they qualify for the final.

All the CSK players took a lap of honour and acknowledged the support of their loyal fans. The spectators were particularly making noise for their beloved Thala.

In a video shared by JioCinema on social media, Dhoni can be seen receiving a special medal from the CSK management. The former skipper then hit a few signed tennis balls into the crowd which were caught by some of the fans.

The camera also captured Dhoni sharing a heartwarming hug with his former CSK deputy Suresh Raina aka Chinna Thala.

Coming to the match, Rajasthan Royals posted a below-par 141/5 on the board. It was a disappointing display with the bat as no one managed to hit a half-century. Riyan Parag was the top scorer with 47* off 35 balls.

Simarjeet Singh starred with the ball for CSK, claiming three wickets by conceding 26 runs in his four overs.

In reply, the hosts overhauled the target with 10 deliveries to spare. While skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad anchored the chase with 42* off 41 balls, the likes of Rachin Ravindra (27) and Daryl Mitchell (22) chipped in with handy contributions to seal the deal.
