In the first half of IPL 2021, Warner was sacked as SRH captain after a couple of poor games in India. He was also dropped from the playing XI after featuring in only two games in the second phase of that edition in UAE.

Notably, Warner led SRH to their maiden IPL title in 2016 and became a three-time Orange Cap winner with the side.

Despite all his achievements, the southpaw was not only stripped of the captaincy and dropped from the playing XI but he was released from the SRH squad ahead of the IPL 2022 mega-auction.

Last year, Warner got to know that he was blocked by SRH on social media when he was trying to tag them on his Instagram story.

In a conversation with Ravichandran Ashwin on his YouTube channel, David Warner admitted that he was hurt by SRH’s bizarre act to block him on social media.

"It did (hurt) because it was a sense of like hurt for fans. The fans are the most important relationship you could have. With the engagement with the fans that I had, with the team had was very good," Warner said.

"Not sure why I was blocked. But, I did engage with a lot of fans on the social media side for SRH. I did feel it was my duty to engage with the fans, making sure they keep coming back. That's what is most important. But from the blocking point of view, I don't know. I have been sitting on it for about 5 years. It was bizarre. At the end of the day, I still got fans who come onto my page and talk to everyone. So it's great," he added.

During the IPL 2022 mega-auction, David Warner was roped in by Delhi Capitals. Since then, the left-hander has been a part of the Delhi-based franchise.

Warner is going through a lean patch in the ongoing IPL season, scoring only 167 runs in seven innings with one half-century.
