IPL 2024: Yashasvi Jaiswal explains how surrounding with “right kind of people” helped him regain form

Jaiswal failed to live up to the expectations in the first half of IPL 2024.

Yashasvi Jaiswal | BCCI-IPLYoung India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal entered into the IPL 2024 on the back of a record-shattering exploits in the home Test series against England. However, he failed to live up to the expectations, amassing only 121 runs in first seven games of the ongoing IPL for Rajasthan Royals.

Initially, doubts surrounded the left-hander’s chances of making it into the T20 World Cup 2024 squad. As it turned out, Jaiswal turned the tide with an impressive unbeaten 104, followed by scores of 24 and 67 to earn a place in India’s squad for next month’s global showpiece tournament.

Speaking at a promotional event on Saturday (May 4), Yashasvi Jaiswal said he tried to surround myself with right kind of people during string of low scores.

"I keep a lot of focus on my process and I try my best in the practice sessions and surround myself with right kind of people and keep working hard," Jaiswal stated.

The Royals are on the verge of securing a berth in the playoffs with 16 points from 10 games, and Jaiswal is keen for his team to sustain this momentum.

Talking about RR’s preparation, Jaiswal said: "It's going great right now, and I hope we can continue with the momentum prepare well and keep focusing on the process for upcoming matches."

According to Jaiswal, one of the biggest benefits of playing IPL is the familiarity with opposition, which helps in doing a proper homework before a marquee event like the T20 World Cup.

"We are going to benefit a lot. We are playing with the same players in the IPL and we know them and we can prepare well for it," the southpaw remarked.

Jaiswal then explained why IPL is an ideal platform to prepare for the T20 World Cup 2024.

"I feel that IPL is the right platform for T20 World Cup where we can play well and learn a lot and gain a lot of experience," Jaiswal said, adding, "It's a lot of fun to play the IPL. The way it's played in India with the kind of matches we have, they are very challenging in different venues. So it's a great experience."
