Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) clinched a brilliant win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 50th match of the IPL 2024 in Hyderabad on May 2. SRH managed a one-run win over the table toppers RR on the last ball of the match, thanks to the brilliance of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat. They managed to score 202/7 much due to Nitish Reddy’s 76* in 42 balls, including three fours and eight sixes and Travis Head’s 58. Heinrich Klaasen also contributed 42* in 19 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes.
In reply, SRH bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed in-form Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson for ducks in the first over. But Yashasvi Jaiswal (67) and Riyan Parag (77) added 134 runs in 78 balls for the third wicket.
RR was cruising at one time but kept losing wickets at the wrong moments. Shimron Hetmyer made 13, while Rovman Powell was the last man out for 27 runs, as he was LBW by Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the last ball of the match as RR needed 2 runs to win.
SRH’s one-run win took them to the 4th spot in the points table and there was much joy for the franchise owner Kavya Maran. Kavya was seen jumping in joy following the exhilarating win, as scenes of euphoria erupted throughout the stadium.
