The ongoing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) v Rajasthan Royals (RR) encounter of the IPL 2024 saw a huge controversy and showcased the poor umpiring standards in the league during SRH innings.
The incident happened in the 15th over of the SRH innings. Against a full delivery outside off, Head shuffled across and chased the ball. He lost balance in the process. Samson threw the ball in the stumps' direction. Replays showed that it was ambiguous, though the TV umpire Rohan Pandit gave it not out.
Even the RR director of cricket Kumar Sangakkara was seen engaging in conversation with the fourth umpire about the decision.

However, Travis Head couldn’t take advantage of the let off and do any damage, as he was bowled on the very next ball by Avesh Khan.
This decision led to several former cricketers slamming the umpiring standards in the IPL and this particular incident was displayed as a shining example of the same.
"Horrible decision again from their umpire. There were two more frames to see. Head's bat was in the air," Irfan Pathan wrote on X.
“The worst third umpire decision I've seen in a very long time. Why have 3 different angles if you're not going to look at the top picture...”- Scott Styris reacted.
“Yes sab kya he Bhai Aapke hisab se Run-Out he ya nai?”- Munaf Patel stated.
