The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) took on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Chepauk on April 23 in the ongoing IPL 2024 tournament. This is the second encounter between the two sides with LSG defeating CSK in Lucknow.
LSG captain KL Rahul won the toss and chose to bowl first. And they managed to get some cheap wickets as Ajinkya Rahane (1) and Daryl Mitchell (11), along with Ravindra Jadeja (16) were back in the pavilion by the 12th over for 101 runs.
But Ruturaj Gaikwad was scoring runs at the other end and then he was joined by Shivam Dube and suddenly CSK’s scoring rate soared. Dube made 66 runs in 27 balls with 7 sixes and 3 fours, while Ruturaj remained unbeaten on 100 with 12 fours and 3 sixes, as CSK made 210/4 in 20 overs.
MS Dhoni, the mercurial ex-captain of CSK, got one ball to play and he smacked it for a four.
But the most interesting incident happened in the 17th over of the CSK innings, when Gaikwad was batting on 93 and was nearing a brilliant hundred.
MS Dhoni was watching the knock from the dressing room and the camera showed him on the screen. The crowd went ballistic when Dhoni appeared on the screen and the decibel levels went up immensely.
However, ‘Thala’ was now happy and picked a water bottle up and jokingly gestured to throw it at the cameraperson.
