Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli liked an Instagram post by former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif in which he shared his thoughts on the RCB batter’s controversial dismissal against KKR. The post also had mention of MS Dhoni in it as well.
Virat Kohli was out caught and bowled by KKR’s Harshit Rana off a high full toss during the KKR v RCB match of IPL 2024. Kohli believed it should’ve been called a no-ball for height, but the TV umpire on checking replays and using the height technology concluded that Kohli would not have been out had he played it from inside the crease.
However, Kohli was way outside his crease when the ball contacted the bat and was given out. Kohli went back to the pavilion furious with the decision and after arguing the umpire. He threw his gloves and hit a trashcan on the way. This led to Kohli getting fined 50% of his match fees by the IPL management.
In his Instagram post, Mohammad Kaif compared the hypocrisy in the judgment of on-field umpires in different situations involving the former India captain and MS Dhoni. Kaif supported Kohli and used MS Dhoni as an example of showing the poor umpiring standards.
He captioned the post: "Clear unplayable beamer gets Kohli out and a ball that passed under Dhoni's bat declared wide. Cameras, replays, technology but still such mistakes being made. Poor umpiring."
However, Virat Kohli liked the post which has stirred a storm on social media. Fans are speculating what Kohli liking this post meant, especially as it involved MS Dhoni.
