MS Dhoni continues to wow his fans wherever he’s going in the ongoing IPL 2024 tournament. This time the occasion was the 34th match of the IPL 2024 between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 19.
The match is being played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Home team LSG captain KL Rahul won the toss and chose to bowl first.
After a sedate first over, CSK lost Rachin Ravindra for a golden duck to Mohsin Khan, who castled him with a beauty. Then captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (17) and Ajinkya Rahane (36) had a small partnership before both went back to the pavilion.
Shivam Dube (3) and Sameer Rizvi (1) followed soon as CSK collapsed to 90/5. But Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali (30) added 51 runs for the 6th wicket. Jadeja completed his fifty in 34 balls, as CSK began to press the accelerator. He was joined by MS Dhoni, who made merry in the death overs.
Dhoni first hit a brilliant six to Mohsin Khan, moving outside off-stump and lofting the ball over the keeper for a maximum. He then took apart young Yash Thakur in the final over.
Dhoni first hammered a full delivery for a six over the mid-wicket that went for 101 meters into the crowd and then hit two fours on the offside in the last three balls.
Dhoni remained unbeaten on 28 in 9 balls, while Jadeja made 57* in 40 balls, as CSK posted 176/6 in 20 overs.
