IPL 2024: Big blow for Delhi Capitals as Mitchell Marsh returns home to treat hamstring tear

A final call on Marsh's availability for the remainder of the IPL 2024 season is yet to be taken.

Mitchell Marsh | GettyDelhi Capitals (DC) have encountered a major setback as their key all-rounder from Australia, Mitchell Marsh, has returned home to undergo treatment for a tear in his right hamstring.

Marsh, who is set to be named Australia's captain for the T20 World Cup in June, was recalled after consultations with the Delhi team management, ESPNCricinfo reported.

However, a final call on his availability for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season is yet to be taken.

Marsh’s last appearance for DC was against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 3 and missed their previous two outings against Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants.

His top-score this season has only been 23 versus Rajasthan Royals, which DC won by 12 runs. He fell for a duck in their 106-run defeat against KKR.

Marsh has been in fine form for Australia lately, leading to him winning the Allan Border Medal for the most outstanding male Australian cricketer of the year.

Other than Mitchell Marsh, DC are also sweating over the availability of veteran Aussie opener David Warner for their away fixture against Gujarat Titans on April 17.

Warner hurt his finger while attempting a catch against LSG on Friday (April 12). He reportedly had swelling in his finger and underwent scans upon the team's arrival in Ahmedabad.
