The Chennai crowd on April 8 in Chepauk went crazy when Ravindra Jadeja seemingly played a prank during the CSK v KKR IPL 2024 match. CSK defeated KKR after chasing down a paltry 138-run target with 7 wickets in hand.
After Shivam Dube got out in the 17th over, Ravindra Jadeja walked out to bat ahead of MS Dhoni, and the crowd going wild. However, it was just a prank, as Jadeja quickly walked back in the dressing room and MS Dhoni walked out to deafening noise from the CSK fans in Chepauk.
And now, in a video shared by IPL on its website, fast bowler Tushar Deshpande revealed that it was Dhoni who told Jadeja to pull off that act.
"Dhoni told Jaddu, 'Jana tu hi, par batting first main jaunga (You go first, but it will be me who will walk out to bat)'. I overheard it," said Deshpande in the video.
Jadeja added: “Woh sirf, apna ek jhalak inn logon ko dikhaye toh inn ke liye ticket ka paisa vasool ho jayega (If he only shows a glimpse of himself, their ticket will be worth).”
Here is the video:
Ravindra Jadeja was the Player of the Match for his 3 wickets and 2 catches, while MS Dhoni remained unbeaten on 1, while Ruturaj Gaikwad guided CSK to victory with an unbeaten fifty.
