He may have retired from international cricket in 2020, but MS Dhoni is as fit as any youngster currently playing in the IPL 2024.
From lighting fast stumpings to taking stunning catches, Dhoni remains a gun wicketkeeper. However, the 42-yeard-old committed a rare mistake during CSK’s match against KKR at Chepauk on Monday (April 8).
During the 18th over of KKR’s innings, Dhoni dropped a catch of Andre Russell, much to the surprise of the cricket fans and experts.
The former CSK skipper was slow to react when Russell got a thick outside-edge off Mustafizur Rahman’s delivery. The ball hit his gloves hard and went down, giving the KKR all-rounder a reprieve.
Here’s the video:
Luckily for CSK, Russell’s drop catch didn’t prove too costly as he was dismissed for 10 in the penultimate over by Tushar Deshpande.
Coming to the match, the hosts restricted KKR to a below-par 137/9 in 20 overs. It was a listless batting display as no one managed to touch the 40-run mark. Skipper Shreyas Iyer was the top scorer with 34 off 32 balls.
Ravindra Jadeja (3/18), Tushar Deshpande (3/33), Mustafizur Rahman (2/22) and Maheesh Theekshana (1/28) were among the wickets for CSK.
