Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul was a happy man, as despite an under par total against Gujarat Titans (GT) in their recent match in IPL 2024 on April 7, his team managed to come out victors.

Rahul had won the toss and chosen to bat first. He made 33 in 31 balls, while Marcus Stoinis top-scored with 58 runs. Nicholas Pooran (32*) and Ayush Badoni (20) propelled LSG total to 163/5 in 20 overs.

In reply, GT’s chase never got going as Sai Sudharsan with 31 and Rahul Tewatia with 30 were the only ones to cross the 30-run mark. For LSG, Yash Thakur took 5/30, while Krunal Pandya took 3/11 in his 4 overs, as the KL Rahul-led team won by 33 runs.

While the win takes LSG to as high as third spot on the points table, with 3 wins in 4 matches, the form of their skipper KL Rahul has left many concerned.

Having played four IPL matches so far, KL has scored only 126 runs at an average of 31.50, with an underwhelming strike rate of 128.57. He has scored a half-century, a knock of 58 in 44 balls against RR, but has otherwise registered scores of 15 in nine balls, 20 in 14 balls and 33 in 31 balls.

IPL 2024: Krunal Pandya shares major update on LSG pace sensation Mayank Yadav’s injury

After LSG's win against GT, the franchise seemed to have attempted to troll their skipper Rahul itself, in a video that has left fans in splits.

In the video, a social media influencer connected to LSG franchise, tells Rahul that he should be the ‘next Defence Minister of India'. Upon hearing this, Rahul said: “Are you trolling my strike-rate too?”

The person then clarified, saying, he called him so as LSG have continued their streak of defending totals over 160 runs. It was the 13th occasion that the Super Giants have managed to defend their total of 160 or more in IPL history.
