IPL 2024: Cricket fraternity reacts as Yash Thakur, Krunal Pandya’s bowling heroics power LSG to a big win over GT

LSG bundled out GT for 130 in 18.5 overs after posting 163/5 on the board.

Yash Thakur bagged a five-wicket haul for LSG | BCCI-IPLLucknow Super Giants (LSG) registered a comprehensive 33-run victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 21 of the IPL 2024 season at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Sunday (April 7).

Opting to bat first, LSG posted 163/5 on the board. Marcus Stoinis was the top scorer with 58 off 43 balls while Nicholas Pooran made a handy contribution of 22-ball 32*.

Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for GT as he picked up two wickets by conceding 22 runs in his three overs. The spin duo of Rashid Khan (1-28) and Noor Ahmad (0-22) also returned with impressive bowling figures.

In reply, the Titans got off to a solid start as the duo of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan (31) added 54 runs for the opening wicket. Yash Thakur drew the first blood for LSG by dismissing the GT captain on 19.

Gill’s wicket triggered a collapse as Gujarat slipped from 54/1 to 80/5. While Rahul Tewatia (30) tried to resurrect the innings, he didn’t get much support from the other end. GT kept losing wickets at regular intervals and their innings eventually folded for 130 in 18.5 overs.

Yash Thakur (5/30 in 3.5 overs) and Krunal Pandya (3/11 in 4 overs) were the wrecker-in-chief with the ball for LSG, sharing eight scalps between them.

It was LSG’s third victory in four games this season and they are currently holding the third spot on the points table, featuring 10 teams.

Cricket fraternity lauded the Lucknow bowling attack for their clinical display while defending a modest total.
