Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins said that he will not be trying to outwit MS Dhoni, known to be one of the shrewdest-minded cricketers in the world, when his team takes on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2024 on Friday, April 5.
SRH are placed seventh on the points table with one win from three matches, while CSK are third with 2 wins in 3 matches.
Cummins led Australia to the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup victories last year and is regarded as one of the best captains in world cricket now. The Australian all-rounder, who was bought by SRH for Rs 20.5 crore in the auction and later named captain, now hopes to lead Hyderabad to their second IPL victory.
However, SRH lost to Kolkata Knight Riders in their first match but obliterated MI in their second game in Hyderabad. SRH scored the highest IPL team total of 277 but then lost to Gujarat Titans in their next game.
The CSK game at home offers the best possible opportunity for SRH to get back to their winning ways.

Cummins understands that trying to outwit Dhoni, one of the best captains in white-ball cricket history, will be futile. His goal is to get the most out of his players, which has also contributed to his success with the Australian team.
“My main job as a captain is to get the best out of our guys so obviously looking at the opposition a little bit and seeing what they’re doing but I don’t think I’m going to try and outsmart someone like MSD,” Cummins said to Star Sports.
Cummins said that he aims to win the IPL 2024 title for the SRH franchise.
He said: “Look whatever team you are playing for, whether you are a captain or a player, there’s always a huge expectation. We know how passionate our fans are, it’s great. Nothing new, we are just going to try our best. T20 is a hard format, you have some amazing wins and you have some tough losses which I am sure we will have this season but we want to give it our best shot and go and win the IPL this year."
