IPL 2024: Cricket fraternity reacts as Mayank Yadav magic helps LSG defeat RCB by 28 runs

Mayank Yadav bowled the fastest ball this IPL 2024 so far at 156.7 kph, bettering his own record.

Quinton de Kock | BCCI-IPLMayank Yadav, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer continued to impress one and all with his sheer pace. He helped LSG triumph over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their own home at M Chinnaswamy stadium on April 2, in the ongoing IPL 2024.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis had won the toss and chose to bowl first. Quinton de Kock scored 81 (5 sixes, 8 fours), while Nicholas Pooran smashed 40* with 5 sixes and one four as LSG finished 181/5.  Glenn Maxwell grabbed two wickets for Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

In response, M Siddharth scalped Virat Kohli for 22 runs as his first IPL wicket. Faf du Plessis was run out for 19 runs. However, then the fun began as KL Rahul introduced Mayank Yadav into attack in the 6th over.

He immediately dismissed Glenn Maxwell, who was out caught after being beaten by pace at 151 kph. Then Mayank returned in his second over and bowled the first ball at 156.7 kph and then cleaned up Cameron Green for 9 runs.

The RCB chase never got going as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Mayank also dismissed Rajat Patidar for 29 runs. Mahipal Lomror top-scored with 33 in 13 balls as LSG folded for 153 in 19.4 overs.

Mayank finished with 3/14, while Naveen Ul Haq took 2/25 for LSG as they won the game by 28 runs.

LSG moved to 4th spot in IPL 2024 points table with 4 points from 3 games, while RCB is at 9th spot with one win from 4 games.

The cricket fraternity was praiseful of the fiery bowling performance by Mayank Yadav and lauded him on social media.
