Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Matheesha Pathirana pulled off an incredible catch to dismiss Delhi Capitals (DC) opener David Warner in Match 13 of the IPL 2024 season at Vizag on Sunday (March 31).

Opting to bat first, DC got off to a brilliant start as the duo of Warner and Prithvi Shaw added 93 runs for the opening wicket. Mustafizur Rahman drew the first blood for CSK in the 10th over, dismissing Warner on 52 off 35 balls.

Mustafizur managed to claim Warner’s wicket thanks to Pathirana’s one-handed stunner. The southpaw attempted a reverse sweep but didn’t get the placement right. Pathirana, who was stationed at short third man, leaped across to his right and plucked the ball out of thin air.

Warner’s dismissal triggered a sort of collapse as DC slipped from 93/1 to 134/4. Shaw was dismissed for 27-ball 43 by Ravindra Jadeja while the likes of Mitchell Marsh (18 off 12) and Tristan Stubbs (0) got out cheaply to Pathirana.

At the time of writing this article, Delhi Capitals were 143/4 after 16 overs with skipper Rishabh Pant (21*) and Akshar Patel (1*) unbeaten in the middle.
