Sunil Gavaskar expressed his frustration at Royal Challengers Bangaluru’s (RCB) 7-wicket defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on their home turf in the 10th game of the ongoing IPL 2024. The legendary cricketer also criticized RCB batters for not providing adequate support to Kohli.

Kohli continued his outstanding performance in the ongoing IPL 2024, as he built on his impressive 77-run knock against the Punjab Kings with a stellar knock of 83 off 59 balls against KKR in Bengaluru.

Despite Kohli's efforts, RCB could post a modest total of 186/6, which KKR comfortably chased down with 19 balls to spare and 7 wickets in their hand at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Kohli was involved in two crucial partnerships after the early dismissal of captain Faf du Plessis (8), stitching a 65-run stand with Cameron Green (33) and a 42-run partnership with Glenn Maxwell (28). However, Green and Maxwell couldn't capitalize on their starts against KKR.

Gavaskar lamented the poor batting performance of the rest of the RCB lineup, saying Kohli could have even scored a century if the Bengaluru batters like Green and Maxwell had provided him with better support against KKR.

Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports: “You tell me how much Kohli will do alone - someone should accompany him, if someone had supported him today, he would definitely have scored 120 instead of 83, so this is a team sport, not a single man game, he didn't get any support today.”

RCB, who have now lost twice and won just one game in IPL 2024, will next face Lucknow Super Giants on April 2 at home.
